Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story movie debuted, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a glimpse into the plot but leaving fans wondering how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a brand new plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the toys appear to consider it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, Pixar will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room without warning is a little strange, however. It also raises questions whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?

Connections from the Previous Film

Fortunately, some elements are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing Woody did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser shows the badge pinned to her shirt.

It is hoped she is remains the key figure among the toys.
